The 60’s and 70’s was renowned for the output of some of the worlds greatest music Motown, Philly, Soul, Funk & Blues. It was a period that bought about racially integrated labels such as Stax Records who produced fine artists like Otis Redding and Booker T & the M.G.’s and Sam & Dave to rival the sweet sounds that were coming out of Berry Gordy’s Motown Records. As one of the highest-earning African American business’s the label emerged with a fantastic team of staff and artists that played an important role in the racial integration of popular music in the 1960s. Motown and its subsidiary labels including Tamla Motown the brand used outside the US were the most successful proponents of what came to be known as the Motown Sound, a style of soul music with a distinct pop influence. We could go on to introduce the sound of Philly Soul with Teddy Pendergrass, Patti LaBel and McFadden and Whitehaed who all played a big part of that whole musical explosion, but thats another story. To cut a long story short The Colin Roy Band have put together a great compilation of Motown, Soul & Philly hits in what is proving to be a truly outstanding show with songs that will take you back and give you a rollercoaster ride that you will want again and gain.

  • Dear Colin, I wanted to let you know that my email has been filled over the last 2 days with messages of thanks and congratulations from those who attended the Banquet. Your performance featured in so many of those messages as having been the perfect climax to an elegant evening. You were mentioned by 3 of our top table guests and many more of our own team as having been the perfect transitional link between a formal dinner and a great Livery family party. I cannot thank you enough for what you achieved because you created a really happy atmosphere and the music was super. It was polished sophisticated and FUN. It cannot get much better than that; many congratulations and sincere thanks. You and the team were delightful people to have met and I know it will not be the last time.
